LOVING CUP Lyrics
Artist: The Rolling Stones
Album: Exile On Main Street
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)
I'm the man on the mountain, come on up.
I'm the plowman in the valley with a face full of mud.
Yes, I'm fumbling and I know my car don't start.
Yes, I'm stumbling and I know I play a bad guitar.
Give me little drink from your loving cup.
Just one drink and I'll fall down drunk.
I'm the man who walks the hillside in the sweet summer sun.
I'm the man that brings you roses when you ain't got none.
Well I can run and jump and fish, but I won't fight
You if you want to push and pull with me all night.
Give me little drink from you loving cup.
Just one drink and I'll fall down drunk.
I feel so humble with you tonight,
Just sitting in front of the fire.
See your face dancing in the flame,
Feel your mouth kissing me again,
What a beautiful buzz, what a beautiful buzz,
What a beautiful buzz, what a beautiful buzz.
Oh, what a beautiful buzz, what a beautiful buzz.
Yes, I am nitty gritty and my shirt's all torn,
But I would love to spill the beans with you till dawn.
Give me little drink from your loving cup.
Just one drink and I'll fall down drunk.

fucking awesome.
please interpret.
I could listen to this song over and over. Haven't we all been here?
A "Loving Cup" is a kind of trophy. It's one of those big ones that's shaped like a heart with handles on the sides, and it usually given out for big wins at sporting events. This ballad uses the cup to represent a loving relationship.
Well, well, well...such a beautiful song and we still have to read racist quotes like "shit head" Rob's comments...that's why most of the world don't like americans.
first of all, "shit head" isn't racist - it has nothing to do with religion, ethnic background, sexual orientation, skin color, social/economic status, mouthwash, etc... secondly, most of the world actually tolerates Americans - especially our money when we visit your third world country and party like rockstars - now, that last line was racist a bit - just an example for you - besides, we Americans really don't give a fuck what the rest of the world thinks - it is what it is and we are who we are...
Mick and Keith...6-decades strong and still kickin' ass! Look up rock-n-roll in the dictionary and all that's there is picture of the Stones!!!
The Rolling Stones are lyrically one of the best bands ever. In their time, they were considered pop. Just try to compare ANY pop artist from today to the Stones, none even come close. The inuendos and symbolism in their music tell stories that contain better plots, plot twists, character development, irony, political insight, and emotion. They make the Britney Spears and the Justin Timberlakes of the world seem infantile in their musical significance. The Stones, unlike todays artists, paited a picture in their mind and conveyed it to the world through music. Today people write music simply to lavish themselves in fancy cars and show the world what idiots they are.
that was funny Rob
AND I'LL FALL DOWN DRUNK
What a Beautiful Buzz
This song is still one of my favorites from the Stones
Martini - you're a dumb hick. open your eyes to the real world. Dont be pissed when america reign is seen as a blip on history's radar and you're begging for a job and a place in this world.
I always thought it was "Oh, what a beautiful face, what a beautiful face!". Not "What a beautiful buzz." In my version, he was looking at her face, couldn't stop looking at her and exclaiming about how he was taken with her. The real version is, he was "buzzed", maybe on booze or drugs. My version was so much more romantic! I'm disappointed. :(
That's pretty funny to read Teresa's comment. I have heard this song for 30+ years and have always thought it was "beautiful face", also thought he said "keep a poor man drunk" rather than "and I'll fall down drunk".
It is a lovely song. Beautiful images of a country boy falling in love with a pretty girl. Love it.
What a beautiful buzz. He's drunk on her love.
Kirsten's right: fucking awesome
It's actually about Coronel Angus.
Had to laugh at some comments, but who GAF I've got a ticket to see the stones in perth in March 14 cheers!
