John Lennon & George Harrison were into PEACE & Harmony & Spirituality & after their experiences in India with the Guru & the pandemonium of Beatle-mania & the Political affect of the time re: wars in Vietnam etc...we were all very "hippy" & many songs of the time reflected that. This isn't the only song of depth -but his death has elevated it to favoritism with nonbelievers. Look at Bob Dylans Peace songs, Pete,Paul & Mary protest songs, Pete seager etc.... that is where John got his ideas from.
