Damned For All Time/Blood Money Lyrics
Artist: Jesus Christ Superstar
Album: Jesus Christ Superstar Soundtrack
Judas
Now if I help you
It matters that you see
This sordid kind of things are
Coming hard to me
It's taken me some time
To work out what to do
I weighed the whole thing up
Before I came to you
I had no thought at all
Of my own reward
I really didn't come here
Of my own accord
Just don't say I'm
Damned for all time!
I came because I had to
Because I'm the one who saw
Jesus can't control it
Like he did before
And furthermore I know
That Jesus thinks so too
Jesus wouldn't mind
That I was here with you
I have no thought at all
Of my own reward
I really didn't come here
Of my own accord
Just don't say I'm
Damned for all time!
Annas, you're a friend
A worldly man and wise
Caiaphas, my friend
I know you sympathise
Why are we the prophets?
Why are we the ones?
Who see the sad solution
Know what must be done?
I have no thought at all
Of my own reward
I really didn't come here
Of my own accord
Just don't say I'm
Damned for all time!
Annas
Cut the protesting
Forget the excuses
We want information
Get up off the floor
Caiaphas
We have the papers
We need to arrest him
You know his movements
We know the law
Annas
Your help in this matter
Won't go unrewarded
Caiaphas
We'll pay you in silver
Cash on the nail
We just need to know
Where the soldiers can find him
With no crowd around him
Then we can't fail
Judas
I don't need your blood money
Caiaphas
Oh, that doesn't matter
Our expenses are good
Judas
I don't want your blood money
Annas
But you might as well take it
We think that you should
Caiaphas
Think of the things
You can do with that money
Choose any charity
Give to the poor
We've noted your motives
We've noted your feelings
This isn't blood money
It's a fee nothing more
Judas
On Thursday night
You'll find him where you want him
Far from the crowds
In the garden of Gethesmene
Chorus
Well done Judas Good old Judas

Comments/Interpretations
The " i dont want your blood money" and " I dont need your blood money" have to be switched
I agree with Lola.
i agree that im very bored for looking at these lyrics LoL
I think it depends on the show, the one im in has these lyrics (slightly different in certain places) but the blood money part is right.
You know, the bible is actually ambiguous about whether Judas betrayed Jesus or not.
What I have to say on the matter IS that Judas was not forsaken by God, (according to the bible) Judas was used as a part of God's plan to "betray" Judas. Judas really had no choice on the matter. God manipulated the situation so that Judas' personality would make him do what he did. According to the bible he was rewarded for his suffering, which (as can be seen by the movie) was quite a lot.
Judas killed himself, and according to the Bible, God doesn't look very favorably on suicide
Randomness!!!!!!!!!!
Just saying, on the original concept album, it's "I don't need your blood money" first. So, this is completely accurate, just not compliant with the movie.
Really good song/movie! Andrew Lloyd Webber is a GENIUS. :D
it's ABOUT my own reward
Listening to the ORIGINAL broadway score as I read the lyrics.. they're absolutely CORRECT. Dont' confuse the movie version with the original Broadway recording - it's called the ORIGINAL for a reason, y'know...
IT wasn't Judas' betrayal that was the problem, it was the fact that he committed suicide that was the problem. All sins are forgiven regardless of whether or not Judas was a part of a Master Plan by God. It was Judas' decision to act as God by taking his own life that became the conflict with God......
i didn't go anywhere near them! i went straight to pilate
Or the whole thing is bull so it don't matter and it was in the west end first uk and if it was real then jude was used by god and did murder him
Pman is right, the conflict become in suicide.Spirit, from Chico Xavier ,told not blain your self with God problems. In the end everything is resolve, with not, because is not the end yet.Peace for all.
What is Judas lacking here? What makes him tick? What will (do)they say when they betray you ?
I like this song 😃
There are 2 versions of how Judas died in the bible pne he committed suicide after giving back the money, but in acts it said he bought land with it and tripped and died from injuries while surveying the land
I saw this as a play at the Norwell Company Theater! Great show! Especially on Good Friday!
Actually there is also the idea that he had swollen up to the size of a cartridge.
There are also mentions of the 12 appostals after the crucifiction in the bible, before Judas was replaced, where Judas didn't seem to die at all. Seriously, Judas is just a huge mystery
If God "holds every card" then technically it was his fault Judas committed suicide. It was only fair that he did because if Judas was even one tenth as upset as Carl Anderson portrayed him to be he couldn't have lived.
i watched the movie in class
The Company Theatre in Norwell,MA knocks this outta the park EVERYTIME of my all time favs!!!
