Do You Know The Way To San Jose Lyrics
Artist: Dionne Warwick
Do you know the way to San Jose?
I've been away so long. I may go wrong and lose my way.
Do you know the way to San Jose?
I'm going back to find some peace of mind in San Jose.
L.A. is a great big freeway.
Put a hundred down and buy a car.
In a week, maybe two, they'll make you a star
Weeks turn into years. How quck they pass
And all the stars that never were
Are parking cars and pumping gas
You can really breathe in San Jose
They've got a lot of space. There'll be a place where I can stay
I was born and raised in San Jose
I'm going back to find some peace of mind in San Jose.
Fame and fortune is a magnet.
It can pull you far away from home
With a dream in your heart you're never alone.
Dreams turn into dust and blow away
And there you are without a friend
You pack your car and ride away
L.A. is a great big freeway.
Put a hundred down and buy a car.
In a week, maybe two, they'll make you a star
Weeks turn into years. How quck they pass
And all the stars that never were
Are parking cars and pumping gas
I've got lots of friends in San Jose
Do you know the way to San Jose?
Can't wait to get back to San Jose.

It reminds me of my first trip to the States as an exchange student in 1968. That song was a big hit back in the sixties.

'' Do you know the way to san jose is one of the best songs that I have ever heard . That song reminds me of incidents that happened to me in my real life . When I hear the song my mind drifts to the times when I was in my car driving from Los Angeles to SAn Fransisco along U. S . Highway 101 . Also wjen I was driving on the extremely dangerous freeways in Los Angeles .
How I love this song! As I moved out of San Jose as a kid, tons of relatives in the bay area, ever since I was a kid this song that Dionne wrote puts it in perfect words as I am finding my way back to San Jose, where I always felt like I belong. Been in Portland, Oregon for twenty years, now focused on my way back to San Jose, as I will not loose my dreams of San Jose!!! Great song to keep me focused on my goal!
I've always loved this song -- long before I became a transplanted San Josean. Now, of course, that love has turned into an immutable bond. LA down south and San Fran up north may have greater name recognition, but give me the quaint charms of San Jose every time!
весьма редко,тем и хорошо
This was my favorite song as kid while riding in my mom's 1965 Ford Mustang. I'm so excited because I'll be driving my godson to San Jose State University this weekend for Accepted Students Spartan Day and he WILL BE listening to this oldie from 1968!
had this song in my head for weeks!!so looked up words, now i understand, the peace of home for me.the world can be very alluring, but those riches are only material. :)
This was the first song I heard when I arrived back from Vietnam. A real flashback when I hear it now.
