To be a Muslim was his destiny, his path. Yusuf Islam would not be the legend he is if he was not so deeply sincere. Don't try to separate Cat Stevens from Yusuf Islam, and say you love one but dislike the other. He is not a hypocrite, so it is ugly to respond with hypocrisy. He did not sell out and be the person others wanted him to be; he preferred to love God over world. You can tell from his songs and lyrics that he was a good man, searching. Now it is obvious that he found his way home, and is an even better man.

The song is good but Cats in the Cradle (Harry Chapin); Dream (Elvis Presley); Piano Man, We Didn't Start the Fire (Billy Joel); Sweet Baby James, Fire and Rain (James Taylor); Glory Days, Born to Run, Human Touch (Bruce Springsteen); One Day at A Time (Eagles); Imagine, It's All Right, Watching the Wheels (John Lennon) are all excellent song (listen to the lyrics) to mention a few; however, you don't see any Islamic people making comments about these songs. Maybe if they changed their names to "Youssef" something, then they would surge the internet to get coverage...Forget Allah and Praise GOD! Amen.

Mr. Stevens wrote this song along with many of his other songs that make sense when he was Christian/Catholic and he never sued anyone then; however, now that Mr. Islam is Muslim, I don't recall any of his recent music being popular. If he so believe in God then He should ignore criticism and pray for God to forgive his enimies...But instead he choose a religion that teaches people to get even with their enemies as he is living proof of setting the example...What a "Wild World" we live in.

My Dad says he's got photos of the lady that this song was written for. Her name if I recall was Elizabeth and she was stunning. Taken in NY in the very early 70s. The pictures my Dad has of her are wonderful. If anyone knows Cat Stevens personally, he may want to touch base with my Dad.
