Funny story about this song! I was down in my room in the basement and my radio (which was switched off at the time) suddenly started blasting this song. Few months later I found out some ancestors of mine owned a small castle in Britian. Weird, huh?

This is my favourite track in the album, only "Time stands still (at the iron hill)" coming close.
This song is pure poetry, I listened the album some days after reading the silmarillion, and this track made me literally cry. BG just found the perfect impressions to tribute one of the saddest chapters in the books. That feeling of sadness and loss beyond recover, that feeling that the dark one actually won by obtaining what he wanted: spoiling the eldar, breaking them, turning the most virtuous of them (feanor) to madness and evil, and even making Yavanna cry (I mean, just the thought of yavanna crying makes me sad enough to cry myself).
