I've interpreted it as perhaps somebody that's following a false religion. They believed rapture would come on their day of death, but in reality they're left with nothing but an earth that consumes them.

Theres no specific meaning to this song just like the rest of Tools songs. It literally could mean anything. You interpret it your way and I'll interpret it mine, thats Tool.

For me this song is about new beginnings, being open and ready for change, and unafraid to "bury" a way of life that is not working.
