Artist: The Tragically Hip
Album: Fully Completely
bill barilko disappeared that summer, he was on a fishing trip the last goal he ever scored won the leafs the cup they didn't win
another until 1962, the year he was discovered i stole this from a hockey card, i keep tucked up under my fifty mission cap, i
worked it in i worked it in to look like that it's my fifty mission cap and i worked it in, i worked it in, and i worked it in, to look
like that and i worked it in, to look like that

another until 1962, the year he was discovered my fifty mission cap, i worked it in i worked it in to look like that it's my fifty
mission cap and i worked it in, i worked it in, and i worked it in, to look like that and i worked it in, to look like that it's my fifty
mission cap it's my fifty mission cap it's my fifty mission cap it's my fifty mission cap

Comments/Interpretations
BEST SONG EVER
I hate this song, what a pile of crap
I love the music especially the heavy chords...
hey yane, go hump a dead moose. If you don't have anything good to say,the just shut the fuck up.
stupid lyrics ever
r u kidding me jimmy? this song gives me chills almost every time
is 50 mission cap a reference to catch 22?
no 50 mission cap is a reference to the caps they give pilots for doing 50 missions
hard to knock this song or the lyrics. its a true story. pretty crazy story, just wiki bill barilko. i admit to occassional chills when i play this song too. fifty mission cap could also be reference to the 50 game NHL season back then too.
Great Song! To Anyone who disagrees with that, you can go to hell. And It is not a reference to the number of games the NHL played, the lyrics say "tucked up under my fifty mission cap" obviously refering to a type of headwear.
Epic song, and stolen from a Hockey card go hip!
It just goes ta show ya...all you kids out there...DON'T GO FISHIN'!!!
I love how the Hip can make amazing songs from simple facts stolen from a hockey card....brilliant and brilliantly CANADIAN. Thanks Gord!
Bill Barilko went fishing with his buddy up by Cochrane.
You are all missing that the writer of the song didn't need a hockey card... He's related to Bill Barilko so I doubt Gord needed to track down the history.
The 50 mission cap is actually referring a the hats worn by US Officers during World War 2
during WW2 allied bomber raids on germany, Young men 18 to 24 years old were lucky to survive 10 missions. A rare thing to see around a mission briefing room was a man with a peek cap that was faded and worn, most officers had fresh uniforms. Thus a man that walked into a briefing room that was nearing fifty missions had seen a lot. American pilots with a fifty mission cap were usually sent back to the states if they wanted to go. This summer a group of fans raised some money and recovered the aircraft wreck that had been there for 60 years and 49 years since the remains of Bill and the pilot were discovered, The last goal he ever scored won the leafs the cup, they wouldnt win again until the year he was discovered ! spooky canadian history
Yane is a fag like honestly just shut up
Fuck the Military
