BACK TO THE OLD HOUSE (BBC) Lyrics
Artist: The Smiths
I would rather not go
Back to the old house
I would rather not go
Back to the old house
There's too many
Bad memories
Too many memories
There ...
There ...
There ...
When you cycled by
Here began all my dreams
The saddest thing I've ever seen
And you never knew
How much I really liked you
Because I never even told you
Oh, and I meant to
Are you still there ?
Or ... have you moved away ?
Or have you moved away ?
Oh ...
I would love to go
Back to the old house
But I never will
I never will ...
I never will ...
I never will ...

the smiths.. ahhhhhh
what a wonderful song.. i can liste over and over again..
Morrissey is definitely the best voice in the history of rock; Johnny Marr an incredible songwriter and The Smiths ohhh.... If I would say that they are the best band ever it would be to little for them. Almost all their songs are unbelievable and you can say something like that about anyone else. God bless you guys wherever you are!
Morrissey's voice... incredible! I allways think at earth when he said old house... he seems tired by this rubbish life with so "many bad memories" and just wants to leave it for a better world and never come back here...
I would be very grateful if you could remove the two comments posted by me in november 2008. Thank you.
stupid site!
very touchy song
gosh i have the up most respect for this band
I agree with all of you. There's something very special about The Smiths that you can't really get elsewhere... I'm talking about absolutely fantastic songwriting with each member executing their part of the job in a way that really couldn't be done by anyone else. It's a match designed in the very heavens. If there is a God, he invented The Smiths.
"and you never knew how much i really liked you because i never even told you oh, and i meant to..." best. lyrics. ever.
Best song ever, but then again, all Smiths songs are beautiful...
great, i love all their songs theyre amazing
morrissey's voice has no equal: 'are you still there ... ?' .. these sounds alltogether have been echoing in the back of mind since I don't know when ... and they'll always will, I hope :)
my beloved sister truely adored the smiths, she had all the albums back in the eighties, she even met her boyfriend whom then became her husband, had such a resemblence to morriesey!!! she sadly passed away 13 years ago,and every time i hear one of this most talented groups songs,i have a little weep!!!
to learn from the past and to revisit the past are two different things... one makes you a better person & thee other brings you down...
I think that it is kinda good to hear that. But they should really put baby in some of the songs. But it sometimes get really boring to listen to it.Bye........
a beautifull song and i am a fututre creature of the greatest music to ever be keep your ears open for kyle t and jack e we will prevail great songgg guys inspired me to write my first ever hit
I have to make a review of this song after my last not very inspired comments, posted a couple of years ago. The song is about his sad childhood and about the fact that now he moved on, and he does not want to come back to the old house, where he lived most part of his youth. He moved away to a better life. Morrissey is a fantastic songwriter. God bless!
Oh Morrisey. I love you more than you can even imagine. I would travel to Manchester just to visit you. Marr, you are the best guitarist ever created, I love you with all my heart. Wish I could see one last concert of them, they were already separated when I was born
