Left Of The Dial Lyrics
Artist: The Replacements
Album: Tim
Read about your band in some local page
Didn't mention your name, didn't mention your name
Sweet Georgia breezes, safe, cool and warm
I headed up north, you headed north
On and on and on and on
What side are you on?
On and on and on and on
What side are you on?
Weary voice that's laughin', on the radio once
We sounded drunk, never made it on
Passin' through and it's late, the station started to fade
Picked another one up in the very next state
On and on and on and on
What side are you on?
On and on and on and on and...
Pretty girl keep growin' up, playin' make-up, wearin' guitar
Growin' old in a bar, ya grow old in a bar
Headed out to San Francisco, definitely not L.A.
Didn't mention your name, didn't mention your name
And if I don't see ya, in a long, long while
I'll try to find you
Left of the dial

That's boooshit
i could swear it's if i don't see ya there. we'll all know why. or well I'll know why. i really don't thing its a long long while
I think it is long long while. I thought he said headed up north, to illinois.
that's a great song
I'm also 100% positive its "its time to move on", not "what side are you on" though it does sound like that.
I never get tried of hearing this song.
such a classic
Esa cancion me llena tanto.Es una de mis 10 canciones favoritas de todos los tiempos.
Tim you are 100% wrong
I've been told that this was written after touring through Georgia and hearing one of their own songs on my old radio station, 90.5 FM WUOG, Athens. The title used to be the station motto. It's still one of the best stations in the country. Tune in if you're in the neighborhood.
I think he wrote this about Laurie Lundeen, now his wife, who was the singer for Zuzu's Petals.
Buena
u guys are wrong
The song is about Lynn Blakey of Let's Active.
Maybe my favorite song of all-time.
Yep, it's about the woman form Let's Active....
This song makes me sad for all the folks I used to know. Killer album, just devastating.
I'm learning to play this song so I can sing it with my band. It's been a favorite of mine forever, but learning it just makes me love it more. Making out the words is fucking hard, though... I appreciate the discussion.
Song always meant so much to be - as i DJ'd at community radio station back in the 80's. The mats never got filthy popular, but the fans they had really loved them. They burnt out, and bring back a time that is so sadly gone now. Damn I feel old..
reunion!!!!!!!!!
the song is about Lynn Blakey, who was a member of Let's Active at the time and was and is a gorgeous woman. the first line of the second verse should be "We were voices laughing . . ."
Pretty sure it's, 'What side are you on' double meaning, what side of getting together with someone - and what side of the dial - Left of the dial. Would go along with Cap'n Canard post - cause you lead me along - asking her 'what side are you on.'
Nick W. Pretty sure it's, If I don't see you then, for a long long while - (accepting loss.) We'll all know why doesn't make sense - why would 'they' all know why?'Not sure it connects back to anything in the lyrics.
