This song isn't actually about breaking up at all - quite the opposite I heard LR interviewed and he wrote it after he heard his Dad do a speech on his parents golden wedding anniversary (hence the "end of our rainbow" - pot of gold I guess?!) - his dad said something like "you are a mother, wife, best friend" or something ike that - as in 3 times a lady!!! i too always thought it was about breaking up and was so happy when i heard it wasn't!!!!
