Georgia On My Mind Lyrics
Artist: Ray Charles
Album: Georgia On My Mind
Georgia, Georgia,
The whole day through
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind
I'm say Georgia
Georgia
A song of you
Comes as sweet and clear
As moonlight through the pines
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
I said Georgia,
Ooh Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
Georgia,
Georgia,
No peace, no peace I find
Just this old, sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind
I said just an old sweet song,
Keeps Georgia on my mind

I love this sonng. It remindes me of my first love,15 years ago, that I still can not forget!
I'm named after this song
I grew up listening to Ray Charles, Nat King Cole and the likes. My dad was an avid lover of these music giants! Everytime I hear this song, it reminds me of when he use to sit us on his lap and sing to us. Ray Charles is the truth, what can I say.
Where can I find the music book of this song? Really wanna learn to play it.
No one can EVER sing this song like the GREAT Ray Charles! It brings back so VERY many memories for me and probably for you as well. I had the GREAT privilege and pleasure of hearing Ray perform this and MANY of his other hits at the Asbury Park Music (Convention?) Hall in the EARLY '60s and have NEVER forgotten the passion and feelings he "put in to" this song!
this is the best song in the world so who doesnt think that is a retated person os thats all i got to say!!!!!!!!!!!!
You have to be tone deaf not to hear this sound and fall in love with it. Someone else might have wrote it, but Sir Ray Charles stamp will be forever on it.

If you haven't already heard it, check out Richard Manuel's version, either with or without The Band. I love Ray's, but Richard's is much more soulful and from-the-heart.
Amazing song, one of the best ever. Found it through tommy emmanuels instrumental version, and Im so glad I found it :)

Have you guys heard 'Hit the Road Jack'? It is also by Ray Charles

god, I just love this song. Amazing fun song to play on the piano.
Ray Charles is awesome
I was not named after this song
This is a song that never gets old
No doubt that Ray Charles made this song famous. But yes, it is true, he is not the original composer. That honour goes to Hoagy Carmichael. Funnily enough I heard another singer (Malcolm McNeill) doing a rendition of the Hoagy Carmichael version before I ever heard Ray Charles sing it.
gay pple
here is something fun to do - go to grooveshark.com or similar free music site and type in david bromberg in the search field and then select and play his instrumental of georgia - get a copy of the lyrics and you have your own karaoke! now, advanced singers, try to sing it differently than ray!!!

ew. shut up dis is a good song
he was the best ever I wish he was still alive
As Seajay from Georgia posted two years ago Ray Charles didn't write the Lyrics to this tune. Hoagy Carmichael wrote the music and Stuart Gorrell the lyrics (in 1930). You should correct your info.
I love the blues ... and I love Ray Charles. Thank God for both.
you spelled insult wrong girlfriend whatever your name is
This song was an great hit and a classic well before Ray Charles sang it... Hoagy Carmichael also wrote (the music to)'Stardust' - one of the great songs of the first half of the 20th Century.
This song is amazing!! R.I.P Ray Charles. I L O V E Y O U . !
Why are Ray Charles fans such bad spellers?
Great cover. Hoagy Carmichael wrote a great song and Ray Charles made it his.

Never cared a lot for my first name but this song has always made it more desirable. lol The song was probably written about the state..a place. But I like to think of it being a person:-)

Reggins lovin
i love this song version jen hirsch from american idol :D
I love this song
i'm a big fan of yours
deandre gave justice to this song!
love it!!
Get the fuck out of here with "deandre gave justice to this song"! No wanna be American Idol could come close to RC. Study up on music before you let bullshit fall out if your mouth like that.
I agree with Joshua, ray is a one of a kind and deandre or any other American idol ect. That thinks they can even come close to singing this song with the soul, and feeling that ray did is delusional. Ray Charles was a great man, wonderful musician, and loving father, don't butcher his songs with your unfit voice.
This is such a great song, but I really just wish that it would be a couple lines longer.*sigh*
this is the best song ever, go geogia
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I love this song! The jazz band at my school played it and it is amazing. I personally love the Gerald Albright version on the saxophone...
siradze
Georgia by Ray Charles is fab. But I think Willie Nelsons version is better.

I love the violins...infact the orchetra n background vocals... They all speak life. Its indeed a masterpiece. It heals d heart and help one go through difficult time...... Am a Nigerian and a fan of Ray Charlesl..... Drowning in my own tears......
There will never be another man with this much soul...

Just got rejected by the girl I love the only song I can think of that can explain my mood
this is the georgia state song
I'm just looking at this because of a school assignment, but it is a good song. :P
Great song, l love Georgia and miss my friends from Atlanta :(
Having grown up in Georgia and having lived in other states for many years because of the military I feel this song was made for me! Georgia is still where my heart is, and I will be one day! Ray Charles is simply the best, and I don't believe anyone else can sing this song with the feeling and passion he does! Because even though he didn't live in Georgia for a long time he was born there and listening to him sing this song seems to be where his heart was! When I get lonely for my home all I have to do is listen to Ray sing this song!
I'm from Russia, the Far East, and the song for me as a native. best performance, lyrics, music.
Ray Charles did not write this song!
Hoagy Carmichael was from Indiana and had never been to Georgia. The saxophonist Frankie Teshemacher said he gonna your Georgia and wanted a song about the state so hoagy who was in grad school wrote it and had his good friend and room mate I believe Stu Gorrell write the lyrics. Gorrell had never written song lyrics before. I love the song and play it and sing often but the lyrics are pretty clunky. As far as blind pianists has no one ever heard of George Shearing (as well as the aforementioned Art Tatum).
