by Steve on 4/15/2013 11:13am In this song he songs about his dad. The line "Won't be no God to comfort you. You taught me not to believe that lie" shows that. Newmans dad was a striktly atheist and hated religion. He taught Randy atheism, even though I don't believe that something lasted in Newmans mind. Newman sang also some very religious songs whose showed us that he is at least some religion. For example: "God's song", "He gives us all his love", his album "Faust", "Kathleen (Catholicism Made Easier)".
