Revolution Calling Lyrics

Artist: Queensryche
Album: Operation Mindcrime

For a price I'd do about anything
Except pull the trigger
For that I'd need a pretty good cause
Then I heard of Dr. X
The man with the cure
Just watch the television
Yeah, you'll see there's something going on

Got no love for politicians
Or that crazy scene in D.C.
It's just a power mad town
But the time is ripe for changes
There's a growing feeling
That taking a chance on a new kind of vision is due

I used to trust the media
To tell me the truth, tell us the truth
But now I've seen the payoffs
Everywhere I look
Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?

Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Revolution calling you
[There's a] Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Gotta make a change
Gotta push, gotta push it on through

I'm tired of all this bullshit
They keep selling me on T.V.
About the communist plan
And all the shady preachers
Begging for my cash
Swiss bank accounts while giving their
Secretaries the slam

They're all in Penthouse now
Or Playboy magazine, million dollar stories to tell
I guess Warhol wasn't wrong
Fame fifteen minutes long
Everyone's using everybody, making the sale

I used to think
That only America's way, way was right
But now the holy dollar rules everybody's lives
Gotta make a million doesn't matter who dies

Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Revolution calling you
[There's a] Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Gotta make a change
Gotta push, gotta push it on through

I used to trust the media
To tell me the truth, tell us the truth
But now I've seen the payoffs
Everywhere I look
Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?

Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Revolution calling you
[There's a] Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Gotta make a change
Gotta push, gotta push it on through

These lyrics really speak to me because they are the truth. This country is almost finshed because everyone sat on their hands instead of Having a real Revolution.

Agreed this is a great song with lyrics that ring true. I am over deregulation, fraud and corruption but I don't know about Obama; his socialism ideals for medical care, illegal immigration, support in Africa, etc. etc... It's not too far away when the printing presses cranking out more $$$ will result in a plummeting currency with double digit inflation; his math doesn't work... We'll still need a revolution, even if Obama is elected...
by Street Ready on 11/11/2008 9:37am
I used to trust the media too.. but now they are so full of shit that it caused the media sheep to vote in another Dem. The Dems took over the house and senate and ran this country into the ground in TWO FUCKING YEARS. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!
by Untrendy on 12/18/2008 5:32pm
The media sold you Obama more than it did McCain. How can you guys argue that you are against them with that sentiment? If you're a true rebel, vote for Nader next time. That being said, BEST LYRICS EVER.
by Zel on 1/4/2009 6:19pm
theres a great video on Youtube, featuring this song and its about Ron Paul. Voting in Ron Paul would have been this country's best shot at getting back to the constitution. Instead, we will have an even bigger deficit, soldiers scattered around the world and more socialist programs.
by Uhh Street Ready and Others ... on 1/22/2009 12:06pm
That's only partially true. You conveniently leave out the fact the up until 2007, the Republicans were in complete control of all three branches of government. Hell, even Alan Greenspan said Bill clinton was was a good Republican if you want to blame him. The charge that led us to the current disaster was led by the Republicans and enabled by the complicit Democrats. Take your own advice and wake up yourself. Both sides are playing us against each other for their own benefit. That's what is really "going on" and what this song is about.

This is an Album that I have loved for over 20 Years it Speaks the truth Now Today more than Ever !!! It's Time for a Revolution HERE and NOW !!!!.

Obama is exactly who this song is talking about. All his cabinet nominees are crooks who haven't paid their taxes, and now they will steal trillions from you and me in the name of "stimulus". Slaves have to be kept down, they will steal all our money and give it to democrap causes. Oh, Obama also stole the Census away from the commerce department. This means they can redraw the district maps and decide the electoral college. The so-called stimulus plan is only going to things that entrench the democrat party. Obama's labor people said they don't want to give money to "white construction workers". So now it's about race, too. Wake up, people, the Revolution is calling, and Obama is the evil one.

To Quote Thomas Jefferson in a Letter to William Smith: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants."
The New Revolution Is Calling!!!!!

"The American people will never knowingly adopt
socialism. But, under the name of "liberalism,"
they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program,
until one day America will be a socialist nation, without
knowing how it happened. Norman Mattoon Thomas (Nov 20, 1884 to Dec 19, 1968)
by Nesta on 2/25/2009 5:02pm
Ron Paul should have used this song. The "Communist Plan" is being put into action by the new administration. Socialism is the bridge to communism, and Obama has us moving further over that bridge everyday. Once we're across, we've had it!

all tou obama lovers have to stop and remember the two big divots left in new york. this president is very soft on defense and will not protect our contry. look at the us cole bombing clinton did nothing look at the two embassy bombings clinton did nothing look at north korea setting off test rockets and we are cutting our missle defense? you liberals have to get off of your intitlement horses and put down your x box controlers. wake up wake up WAKE UP!
by coachesrepublican on 6/5/2009 6:28pm
we should all be able to go get a caddy escalade from the dealership now that we own the dam dealerships. i agreed to give this guy a chance but i will point out the dumb shit he does like bowing to a muslum leader what a loser tell me there was a bucket of chicken on the floor that he was looking at.
by Hurf Durfson on 6/22/2009 8:05pm
Voting Obama didn't do anything to solve the problem in this song. He is part of the illusion that you are picking a just politician.

The only president that maybe would be different is Ron Paul, he seems like the only candidate who isn't a giant douche on the inside.

check him out. In my opinion, it doesn't matter whether you vote republican or democrat anyways, money rules..
by WeAreChangeLA Tim on 8/1/2009 6:50pm
I really appreciate this song. Yet most of you don't get this and I don't expect it. The biggest hospital owned by the U.S. is socialized/communist medical. You are paying for it but you cannot use it. It's called the V.A. Unless you're in the military, you cannot come off the street with a medical emergency and expect treatment. Oh and at Guantanmo Bay? The inmates are receiving single payer health care. Free medical, prescriptions, food, water, hosing and so forth. Why aren't you? Because like Geoff Tate said, all this bullshit about the communist plan, or terrorist today? Is what it is, bullshit.
by paul on 9/15/2009 11:35am
Um, I don't know what lyrics you guys are reading but this song is about the corruption of all politics and the corruption of money. He sings about the bullshit that the media feeds us about our enemies so we don't look more closely at our leaders, how the holy dollar rules everyone's life at the expense of our fellow human beings. Also the hypocrisy of religion, in that the preacher tells us not to sin and then he does right in front of our noses. If anything, this song is about anarchy. You Dems and Repubs are only hearing what you want to hear.
by whodatearl@yahoo.com on 9/16/2009 5:01pm
It blows my mind how people are describing Revolution Calling. Every government since the dawn of civilization has and will always be corrupt. As long as there are human beings on this planet man will lie, cheat and steal all in the name of GREED...
by Matt on 11/6/2009 9:29am
You people who shout into the wind about Obama on a page about lyrics written 20 years before anybody knew Obama's name need to get a life.

This was written in the direct aftermath of the Regan era. Both parties are corrupt and Ron Paul doesn't have a shot in hell of being elected. Live with it or move elsewhere.
by Shafeen on 12/8/2009 7:52pm
Great song....awesome lyrics :)
by Andrew on 3/9/2010 2:25pm
I used to listen to this song in High-School. Thought it was right-on back then. Lyrics are even more relevant today. Doesn't seem to matter which party is in control.

Time to wake up people!

by D on 5/24/2010 1:51pm
This is happening right now I wish
this video would be back on the air the lyrics are so true.
Vote um out Revolution
by Jerry on 8/1/2010 2:06am
It's more than simply throwing the bums out. We must hold those elected accountable. No one is accountable to anyone anymore. This is the ultimate tragedy of political correctness.
by TJ on 8/27/2010 11:28pm
So many of these lyrics are true today. Gov and MSM is bought and paid for by banking cartel. I'm afraid that revolution is the hopeful case. Title may need to be changed to Anarchy Calling
by CaptainObvious on 10/28/2010 3:45am
Um, you guys do realize that Geoff Tate and Queensryche are pretty much straight up Marxists right?
by qqqq on 11/5/2010 7:02am
Check the date of the song what's old is not new.

Viva la revolution
by Kery on 4/8/2011 5:23pm
Very fitting. Especially today as they they can't seem to pass a budget. Pay themselves but not our military?!
by passion8leader@roadrunner.com on 10/20/2011 8:49pm
Someone says this song should be about President Obama??? LMAO! What an idiot! That`s about as stupid to say as this song being about Jesus. Yikes! NOOOOO, the rich and powerful corporate fascist GOP`ers who are in charge are the ones destroying the world. This lyrics are talking about those types of people. OMG. Ignorance!
by Eye on 12/2/2011 2:54pm
RON PAUL 2012
by NOBama on 4/26/2012 9:25am
If we use the context of this song and apply it to what is going on now, then revolution to the Government NOW it is very fitting. Like chips in your head, do ya? Like, supreme-court-justice-elena-kagan-is-pro-sharia- do ya?, Like abortion? do ya?
by G.Tate on 7/9/2012 10:30pm
I'm tired of all this bullshit
They keep selling me on T.V.
About the TERRORIST plan
And all the shady preachers
Begging for my cash

this song is just so true in every line
by Massimo on 2/11/2013 7:34am
Written in 1988...
We are applying it right now in Italy with the 5 Star Movement.
You'll hear the boom also in the USA!
by Wake Up on 3/25/2013 8:52am
Great song. Read about the about the secret meetings of the bilderberg group and get a real eye opener about what is going on.
by Mr. X on 10/9/2013 11:29pm
It's funny some of you say this song represents Obama. It was released in 1987 during the last years of the Reagan Administration.
by Baz on 12/5/2013 7:30pm
I love it, I've been listening to this song since the 80s and to read peoples opinion mentioning Obama....30 years later. Greed, religion, and wars: the American addiction.
