Wish You Were Here Lyrics

Artist: Pink Floyd
Album: Wish You Were Here

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skys from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

this is my absolute favorite song. when i was 15 i had a folder in school and drew a fish bowl with 2 fish and underneath it said " we're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl" and i am now 32 and when the song comes on i still get goose bumps and i cry b/c it pretty much sums up my life.

I don't want to sound mean, but if you (jezebelk912) say that this song sums up your life, then you have no idea what this song is about or means. It's about someone dieing (Richard Wright) and being missed, not about life. And that's not an interpretation it's a fact. So not to rain on the last 18 years of your life but your and idiot. As someone who is 34, and has lost more family and friends then years I have been alive, this song has more than just a lot of meaning or emotion for me. Starting with a friend that was at 12 years old and his little sister at 8 were both burned alive in a house fire. So don't ruin it with your stupidity, cause you were to young to know it's real meaning and have never bothered to learn it over the years.

hey for the love of pink aka the all knowing, each song has a different meaning to all of us, a song could be about a purple cow and what you interpret and the emotions you feel could be a whole different thing. music is an expression of many different things, just because the song is about something dosnt mean thats how we all have to look at it as or only feel what the artist was feeling. everyone has their own opinion and yes sometimes they can be wrong but you dont have to be so rude about it. and age dosnt really have anything to do with it. i'm 26 and was raised with this song, my dad was a lighting tec and actually did tours with pink floyd. so age is nothing. its the love of music or admoration of an artist that brings us here in the first place. no need for name calling and the "i know more than you" attitude

For the Love of Pink-
This song is actually about their former bandmate Syd Barrett. Their album was basically a tribute to him. So before you go bashing other peoples opinions i suggest you get your facts straight. Dumbass.

Richard Wright died in 2008, and this song was released in 1975. So obviously this isn't about him. Its about their former bandmate Syd and his battle with schizophrenia. But it could be interpreted in many ways like Pinks not well said. War or whatever you like. But dont bash other people when you dont know what your talking about yourself.
