Tourette's Lyrics
Artist: Nirvana
Album: In Utero
Moderate Rock
May day, every day, my day
Could've had a heart attack, my heart
We don't know anything, my heart
We all want something fair, my heart
Hey(5x)
Out of town, out of sight, is my heart
Queen of lies, today, my heart
One more on the phone, my heart
One more at the door of my heart
Hey(5x)
Mean heart
Cold heart(7x)
Yeah...
Uhh....

Comments/Interpretations
pointless and awesome.
not their best
maybe not their best, but it's damn close
damn good song i like it cuz the lyrics r so hard to understand
i agree, pretty close, but who cares. NIRVANA ROCKS!!!!!
this song makes me wanna get up and jump around
Hard to understand because it was made up on the spot....
Most of his lyrics were about nothing at all, he would say, 'I used to sit there & write down any crap that came into my head' that's what I love about Cobain, doesn't give a shit about lyrics, but still makes it sound good, but this of course you have something in the way, which is a bunch of lyrics about anything, but with real meaning.
this is one of my fav songs
how is it pointless?
i found out, that Tourette, is the last name of the guy who found out the Tourette Disorder. i think the name of the song could help to understand the meaning of the lyrics, or kurt just chose a random title for it..
the song makes perfect sense (my heart) is a person with tourettes audible tic thats why it's repeated over and over. may day every day is about the stress that comes with T.S and the sometimes overwhelming tics.could of had a heart attack is also related to the statistical probibility of T.S. compared to haert attack which is about the same odds both also being hereditary.we know nothing is about T.S. has no cure and little is found in research of the nurilogical disorder.we want something fair is about equal rights for people with sometimes dibilitating T.S. hard to keep a job with uncontrolable screaming and cursing or touching other people.the rest of the song is about social seclusion and tryng to run away and peoples judmental behavior misunderstanding T.S. and people with it COLD HEART MEAN HEART...................
I think he named it tourretes because well... listen to the song man... Sounds like he was screaming and spazzing into the microphone...
The First version which was meant to be a one off was called ' The Eagle Has Landed ', They did it for bootleggers. Watch reading 92. They then changed the name with different lyrics, and placed on In Utero.
bullshit
C'mon we all know Kurt belted out random lyircs sometimes. You're treading down the path of dispair trying to figure it out. Music came first to that guy. Words & meanings last.So just rock out to it.
THIS SONG IS FUNNY BECAUSE ALL HES DOING IS SCREAMING IN THE MICROPHONE.
lol i love this song and listen 2 it like every day and i finally know whats hes screamin about. Courtneys a b****
Every song kurt cobain ever uttered has changed my life.
i think every song kurt ever wrote had incredibly deep meaning to him, but half of the time i don't think there's any point in trying to figure out the meanings, cause the only person they would make sense to would be kurt himself.
I love this song it's one of their best in my opinion and by the way In Bloom was about his hate for rednecks.
i wrote this song when you were dead
ok i totally agree wit courtney love up there..some music is serious lyrics and shit, some isnt. he sounds like he is just having a freaking osm time screaming in the mic and doing wat he loved..i bet some parts of this song do have meaning, but only him and maybe the rest of nirvana know that :( KEEP ROCKIN!
This song pisses me off, but that's why I like it.
power chords: F# A# B G (4 times each, loop it)
ok his lyrics werent random crap. he put alot of heart into his lyrics. but when he wrote something too true or obvious or sappy he would make fun of it with the next line. dont fuckin diss his lyrics cuz he was one of the fuckin best
THIS SNG IS SO FUCKING AWESOME EVEN THOUGH IT MAKES NO SENSE COBAIN IS A LEGEND FOR JUST THINKING UP SOMETHING AND WRITITNG IT DOWN AND IT ENDS UP SOUNDING GREAT
whoever says this song is pointless obviously can't read into it very well. you probably shouldn't be listening to Nirvana anyway. GTFO kthxbye
This is one of my favorite tracks from the live album. My first copy of In Utero I got from my parents on cassette not too long ago, actually. It's kinda funny how you can further realize the meanings of works like these as you get older. As far as In Utero goes, tracks like "Scentless Apprentice", "Milk It", and "Tourettes" could give the unprepared listener a heart attack. Bottom line: any artist searching for what it means to suffer for your work (i.e. to love it) needs to give this and the rest of "side 2" a listen.
He read he had tourettes and it affected him...end of story. He rules.
-Anon "not their best" --- you don't know shit kid shut the fuck up
dude stop saying this fucking sucks, i does not, it only is a diffrent type of music by nirvana.
This is the best band ever! And this song is great. R.I.P Kurt!
fucking sexy.
I love how I have no fucking idea wht kurt is saying. Its sexy as hell. R.I.P. Kurt!
I got my name from a misspelling on one of his albums. I love nirvana and if you listen to the song u can hear the lyrics clearly.
actually the song was originally called "the eagle has landed" when it was performed at the reading festival, and for the "in utero" album they called it "tourettes" because he made up the lyrics right on the spot and he screamed it almost as if he had tourettes...
Just reading peoples comments I've learned more about kurt!!! I love this song and I play the power cords as F A A# F# and it sounds awesome!!! R.I.P. Kurt Cobain
This song is so bad ass.
You all need to shut the fuck up. Everything has meaning. Whether he did it just because he could or if it has deeper meaning. Regardless, none of you dicks will ever know. Songs have different meanings to anyone who listens too it. So get a fucking life. I doubt he ever intended to start a fucking arguement on who knows more about "Kurt Cobain" and HIS music than the next person. Infact I do beleive that's what he NEVER wanted. But, I see you are all true fans. Haha.
I love this song... I get so pumped up after hearing it... I'll love Nirvana forever....
cant understand a dam word he sais........................but i like it! Kurt Kobaine shreds
This song sounds like crap. Crap sounds so fucking great
this song is awsome! i couldnt really understand what he was saying but dude, its one of my favorite nirvana songs! R.I.P kurt cobain
Who cares whatever words it is. Kurdt Donald Cobain is a fuckin genius he did that on purpose and probably said what ever he was juss pissed off
Dude, Nirvanafrik is on there! Nirvanafrik from youtube!
this is one of nervanas good ones
F"(#..........$#i+............p!$$.......yeah I have tourettes...........so what??!!
calling a song written by Kurt Cobain pointless is like...well... calling a song written by Kurt Cobain pointless! Yes, the lyrics are kinda weird. but who cares? Nirvana kicked serious @$$!!!
The guy who figured this out is a genius, I would've never guessed he said "moderate rock"
The song is supposed to be interpreted how you want to interpret it. Kurt didnt make his songs pertentious for that reason.
Omg guys, you should really look for information before saying anything. The meaning of thw song is in the title itself, how difficult can it be? The song is about Tourette's Syndrome, wich makes you have unvoluntary tics, specially random shouts. The song is just about it; the first verse is about social reclusion (May day every day, is my day) and the increased probabilities of having a heart attack, and also about how little we know about the syndrome and how people who suffer it want to be treated in a better way. Now, on the second verse, it just kinda describes the Syndrome, with "One more at the phone, one more at the door" he is saying just how unpredictable the tics are. By the way, the screaming and the "Hey!" are just like if he had the Syndrome. Of course, "Mean heart, cold heart" shouldn't need any explanation, but they are also about how people attack things or people just because they are different. Voila?
it doesnt matter the lyrics, Kurt focused on music, and channeled his anger thru it. he didnt care about the lyrics so much. he just wrote down words that sounded good and channeled what he was feeling. "on a plain" was written as extra track and was written in 5 minutes
The song isn't intended to have any lyrics. It's supposed to be gibberish. That's why it's called "Tourette's".
Maybe the song has meaning and maybe it doesn't. All I know is it is a great song to fill up the time between birth and death. It does what Mr. Cobain wanted it to do.
What a delieverance to some of the grunge freaks like me. Will always treasure nd cherish the legacy left behind by the most celebrated grunge-man of all times, Kurt Donald Cobain.
i have the cd at home but all it says in the lyrics booklet is culk, tish, chips
You're an idiot.I won't even name who said this but you have no knowledge ofTourette's Syndrome. The man who the disorder is named after is Steven de la tourette and there people with tourette' s don't always curse which are called vocal tics . Sometimes people with Tourette's have what is called a localized tic which can be any involuntary movement, but most of the time it's just excessive blinking or something like that or a constant cough. It can be anything really, but most of the time it's mild. And where did you get the part about having to touch people? I've never in my life seen that. Kurt Cobain had tourette' syndrome or why else would he have wrote about it? Everybody on here did their research and was considerate before posting . T.y. Except for the idiot who said people with Tourette's sexually harass people.
Sorry, the man who tourette's syndrome was named after was Gilles de tourette and he was a physician .before they named the disorder after him the disorder was called Saint Vitus dance .God knows why it's called that.
ok Me up there the song is called Pennyroyal Tea. And for god fucking sakes stop being a douche, like end of story fuck, you're kinda gay
..Whats the point of finding meaning?..it doesn't change the fact that we're all gonna die..
This song is awesome and yeah he always said the melody comes first, lyrics are secondary and he had said he wrote whatever came to his head but i think he just didnt want to seem like he was bragging about writing deep poetry and he didnt want to seem like he was trying to be a big shot
this song is sung in gibberish. it has no lyrics.
considering he made the lyrics up on the spot, i don't think it's suppose to make any sense.
Tourette's doesn't have any lyrics according to 101 random facts, Kurt is trolling you all from beyond the grave!
this song is fucking insane hehhe love to hear it everyday morning so refreshing :D
this songs guitar intro solo druming and fast lyrics adds up to fucking epicosity
This song, like most Nirvana songs, is about absolutely nothing, Kurt openly talked about how his lyrics were mostly made up on the spot
I know all. This song had no meaning. blow my holy cock
This song is the shit! This shit made me jump so high I literally dunked in basketball! I didn't know I could dunk!
For those who are wondering, the song lyrics cannot be based in everyday reality. They are something more abstract... like an idea (but an artistical and meaningful one). I hope this helps.
