...God shouldn't be censored. We don't censor the word "Buddha" or "Allah," why should we censor God? It's almost as if you're favoriting other religions and putting down Christianity.

It's a Jewish thing where you have to be careful not to say the Name in disrespect. Better not to say it or write it than be disrespectful.

G-d is written that way because it's a very holy word and it's disrespectful to write the whole thing.

In Hebrew God's name is never written all the way out, so that it is respected and kept holy. (if you know anything about how Hebrew is written, the vowel marks are not written)

Sometimes people, particularly Jews, imitate this when they write in English by leaving out the "o".

Writing "G-d" is an act of Respect. Orthodox Jews, write "L-rd" too.
