Does anyone know the origin of this song? M.C.C. did not write it. On the album and sheet music she credits the words and music as "Traditional", meaning it is a folk song. I had never heard this song before, and I know many folk songs. I would like to know more about this song, so if anyone has researhed it and has info as to it's origin, please post.

James, I wish I could help with the origin. This is one of the most heart stoppingly beautiful songs I have ever heard. Together with the scene in which it is played in the movie "Fly Away Home" the full force of its beauty and sadness hit you.

I love this song. It's so peaceful and the music is beautiful. I remember hearing it for the first time on the movie, "Fly Away Home." I watched that movie again yesterday and heard the song again and realized I needed to download it to my iPod. :)

The movie "Fly Away Home" came out the year my mother passed away. This song hit me where in the movie the dad tells her "she can do it, because her mother was there in her heart". Each year as the geese would start their journey south, I remember my mom standing outside and she would look up in the sky and say as the geese flew over " take me with you". This song reminds me of those moments of my mom and her peaceful journey.
