The correct line is " A pie in the face for bein' asleep before dawn". Also, there is another chorus at the end of the song.

I grewup listening to my dad and his best friend on acoustic guitar playing this song , and some mamas and papas, and king of the road. I was about 12. im 52 now. i miss him and i wish i had taped it, but who thinks of that stuff at the moment? I have a great memory in my head.

Loved this song since I was a young boy, am now 64. Learned the chords on my uke and plan to sing daydream to my new girlfriend Paula.
