Folsom Prison Blues Lyrics

Artist: Johnny Cash

I hear the train a comin'
It's rollin' 'round the bend,
And I ain't seen the sunshine,
Since, I don't know when,
I'm stuck in Folsom Prison,
And time keeps draggin' on,
But that train keeps a-rollin',
On down to San Antone.

When I was just a baby,
My Mama told me, "Son,
Always be a good boy,
Don't ever play with guns,"
But I shot a man in Reno,
Just to watch him die,
When I hear that whistle blowin',
I hang my head and cry.

I bet there's rich folks eatin',
In a fancy dining car,
They're probably drinkin' coffee,
And smokin' big cigars,
But I know I had it comin',
I know I can't be free,
But those people keep a-movin',
And that's what tortures me.

Well, if they freed me from this prison,
If that railroad train was mine,
I bet I'd move out over a little,
Farther down the line,
Far from Folsom Prison,
That's where I want to stay,
And I'd let that lonesome whistle,
Blow my Blues away.

good grammar. how is it rasist?
by mom of four children on 5/15/2008 9:44pm
I find it hard to believe that someone would write such trash and post it on a site that is visible for all. It is painfully obvious to me and the entire world for that matter, that you sir, are a moron.
by mom of four children on 5/15/2008 9:46pm
By the way, my comment was directed at the vulgar comment from 5/12/2008.
by Befuttled on 5/16/2008 4:08pm
Since when is "Folsom Prison Blues" a rasist song? and if you have to elude to your genitalia, you probably are compensating for something. Regardless,

Since when is "Folsom Prison Blues" a rasist song? and if you have to elude to your genitalia, you probably are compensating for something. Regardless, I completely agree with 'Mom of four children'; "It is painfully obvious to me and the entire world for that matter, that you sir, are a moron."
Do us a favor, and leave the internet in its entirety. Or the gene pool, preferably.
by what is your problem on 5/17/2008 4:56am
how is this song racist. Two this song has been around for a long time and ive never heard about it being racist. Plus its abou johny cash own experience so i gues if he was being racist it would be racist against white people wich isnt racist since he is white. And the way you act does do any good for promoting your image so if anyone is doing nything wrong its you giving what ever race you are a bad name.
by Zack on 5/17/2008 10:33am
I love this song. It is awesome.
by nuck futz liquor on 5/17/2008 6:15pm
I love the internet. A person with an IQ of 12 can post whatever they want and make a wonderful contribution. I had no idea it was spelled "rasist" and "metel". Brilliant. Please don't have children.

fuck nuts licker is so stupid
by High School student on 5/18/2008 6:12pm
I got this for a topic for a research paper. i really have NO CLUE what im doing and i need help. the lyrics dont say anything about anything even relatively important that still connects to the lyrics. i think it was a bad idea for them to give me this song. im just venting. thanx for listening.
by Julie DK on 5/19/2008 2:49pm
Great song. Fantastic. Sorry that he is dead, I really wanted to meet this guy. - Rasist? If you are a childish (black) person who is very dumb and wants it to be rasist, then; yeah. So fucking stupid.
by John T on 5/19/2008 5:44pm
Like Cash, the song is awesome.

Also, apparently some village is missing an idiot.
by babyboomer1954 on 5/19/2008 9:00pm
For the High School Student...picture being stuck in a prison (maybe for life) and hearing a train in the background. Imagine where you would go on that train if it stopped and picked you up. Imagine hearing this sound everyday and never being able to get out of there. Imagine paying your dues to society with never knowing if you will ever get out. Imagine the things that will go through your mind, and what it would do....it could be a mental torture everyday...for who knows how long.....
by Emily Geno on 5/21/2008 5:36pm
This song is great!iam doing a research paper on johnny cash and so far i have found some pretty interesting facts. Johnny cash is a great role model and this essay is getting better and better maybe my best one yet!

I like it! It's a song you can have fun playing at any event.*
by Jesus on 5/24/2008 4:08pm
i say you all stop worrying about it. he was obviously just expressing himself. if a man that stupid needs to use words like fuck. nuts. and licker. he is just expressing his desire for a life. because posting on a comment box about an un racist song being racist by talking about his monster dick being a monster and raping everyone. well. he just wishes it were true. and church lady. you disapoint me. potty mouth? seriously?
by That other guy on 5/26/2008 11:43am
His own experience? He wrote this song waaay before he ever got into prison himself.
by Andrew Smith on 5/26/2008 1:08pm
Yes you obviosly don't know the meaning of the word racist. This song was wrote when Johnny was in the army nothing to do with racism.

I find it extremely comforting to know that there are people who are willing to speak out against those who fill the internet with crap. I am proud of everyone who has denounced the man who has tainted this site with his stupidy, arrogance and rudeness. This is a brilliant song, it is brilliant in its simplicity. why people feel the need to say and do stupid things which help no-one is beyond me. I think that there are a lot of people in this world who need to grow up an awful lot. This site should not need to have to deal with stupid people, we should be talking about wonderful music, and not the ignorance of "fuck nuts licker". It saddens me to know that this is neccasary and there are people who activly look for people to provoke and upset. That is all.
by J.P on 5/31/2008 1:23am

Johnny Cash never killed anyone,it was not wrote on experience. He was only imprissoned for one night to do with the pills.

His songs are brilliant.

i sure wish i could have met Johnny cash.i luv this song and the way it was sung on the movie 'walk the line'.
by trevor on 6/3/2008 11:00pm
don't post unless you know what your talking about.this isn't about johnny cash's experience. he wrote this song well before he got busted for anything. He wrote this song before anyone even knew of him. he wrote this song while he was in europe with the army. again I just want to say you sound like a fucking moron when you try to sound smart and stand up for johnny, and write shit that's not even true. you're definitly not a johnny cash fan.

Good song. It definitly think that he had his brother in mind during the writting of mos songs. if it weren't for johnny cash's brother. johnny would have never Been as successful as he is today.

Johnny and June Cash, forever in our hearts.
RIP.
by Ado! on 6/4/2008 5:48am
Johnny was an original and there's no one comparable to him. I see a lot of people reacted to the email from FNL. Well I'll make a comment and say the world could do with eliminating people like this. He's an embarrasment to Human kind. Or maybe he's mentally challenged so then he needs professional help. I hope he gets it!
by englandboy on 6/4/2008 5:42pm
this song is great, love the film aswel
by Nicky on 6/5/2008 12:44am
@Trevor: How can you judge someone to be a true or a "false" fan of Cash based on nothing more than comments? Besides, do you really thing that it matters to know all the detailed facts of a singer's life to truly appreciate his music? You know, if it were so, Johnny Cash and many, many other artists would probably have very few fans.
by self-proclaimed grammar freak. on 6/5/2008 7:20pm
i would like to complement andrew smith on being the first person on this page to spell "racist" correctly.
btw, this is an amazing song.
by Sangofanzak on 6/6/2008 10:17am
I love this song almost as much as his cover of Hurt. Anyone who hasnt heard it needs to hear it its incredible. Also that ass at the top has no idea wat hes talking about obviously. i dont see how the song is "rasis"! its racist fuckin retard
by Fuck nuts lickers Mother on 6/6/2008 8:17pm
I apologise for my sons ridiculous comments, he is exceptionally retarded and sadly doesn't understand anything, I have to go now so he can shove his hard metel cock up my nose and shoot a load into my brain, well I am his mother, who else would let him.
by Hector Fernandez on 6/7/2008 12:04pm
I'm Dominican and black, and I love Johnny Cash! His music transcends race and is meant to reach out to the downtrodden spirit in all of us. For someone to say this is racist and put in a name and comment laced with profanity, just shows that they want attention. Sadly if you go to any message board (I'm serious, be it about information technology or weight lifting) someone will always says some extraordinarily stupid or obscene comment just to ruffle feathers and get attention. It's likely because their mother didn't hug them enough as a child. Let's all send him a great big hug so he won't have to do this silliness anymore.
by dork on 6/8/2008 3:43pm

I think "fuck nuts licker" doesn't understand this great song.. He's probably the smartest man alive, especially when you put a comment like this on the internet..
by JP on 6/18/2008 8:23pm
How can you not understand this song ? Johnny is putting himself in the shoes of a folsom prisoner at the time and then put into words.
by Brandon on 6/20/2008 1:25pm
Fuck nutz licker you need to learn what a great song this is.
by Michael on 6/20/2008 3:07pm
dude Johnny Cash is amazing
all the stuff today built off him he is amazing and i think this is his best song
by Michael R. on 6/23/2008 9:28pm
Alot of people think Johnny doesn't make any sense just because he wrote in the song that he shot a man in Reno just to watch him die but is in a California prison. Here's a thought, what if he's in Folsom prison on a differant charge and when he has served his time there then he will go to a Nevada prison, or maybe he just never got caught for the reno killing. Hmmmmm?
by Hazel S. on 6/25/2008 10:32pm
I'm a huge Johnny Cash fan. Folsom Prison Blues is one of my favorite songs. People should remember that Mr. Cash was an artist first. If he enhanced his lyrics for full effect, that's what he did. He played a gig at the prison, and to his own surprise, the prisoners already knew the lyrics to his songs because identified with what he was saying. Just because he didn't actually do time there (or commit the crime) didin't mean he wasn't, at certain points in his life, in a prison of his own. Here's to genius and a real man.

By the way, for the record, Mr. Cash did not shoot a man in Reno just watch him die. That's what you call, "poetic license." (sp?)

As an aside, I'd like to point out that I'm a black female, from the East Cost, and I can't think of one Johhny Cash lyric that could be characterized as "racist."

I have no idea why anyone would interpret this song as racist. If anything it aludes to a man who that is lamenting the mistakes of his youth. And, I'm not even a Johnny Cash fan. But this is a great song.
by fuck nuts licker on 7/2/2008 8:23am
who said it is a racist song ?
by doc on 7/2/2008 10:23am
how can this song be racist, he's talking about prison, no connection from race there, hes not saying a black person shot him or he shot a black man.
by Manda on 7/3/2008 3:03pm
*sarcastically*Oh yes of course this song is about racism i mean its so logical you know?

Polsom Prison is an awsome song. you have to love the man in black. johnny cash is aswsome. love his music
by Johnny Cash on 7/26/2008 12:46am
he wrote the song BEFORE he ever went to jail. He only spent a short time in jail for posession of pain killers or "uppers and downers" that alot of the rock and roll performers were taking at the time Prescibed by doctors. Johnny was not the bad ass that his songs portrayed him to be.
by byah! on 7/28/2008 1:55pm
johnny cash wrote this AFTER!!! HE was out of jail and OFF the pain killers he was addicted to..he kept getting letters from prisoners there and wrote a song for them...im pretty sure he wasnt jailed in folsom prison to begin with..

Now can we just move on. It's Johnny Cash, not some "special" person who posts stupid, inappropriate, uneducated stuff on the internet. So, I love this song!!

Why does there have to be so much hate over an amazing song. Folsom Prison Blues is one of my favorite Cash songs. Its not racist its not offensive at all. Its just an all around great song.
by James Bond on 8/22/2008 1:30pm
That nuts licker is not just a racist, he's even a white racist. Gives other good white people a bad name. F him. :) Alot of talk about Johnny and prision. He never served other than a night here and there for misdemeanors and according to the "Walk the line" movie, he wrote the song while in the army or airforce. Not all songs are based on experience. I think he sort of felt inprisoned BY the airforce. According the movie, before he began singing he asked "you got a problem with the air force?" and the go said "no". Johnny says "I do" and then went into this song. So my take is that he felt imprisoned and linked it to being no unlike being in real prison.
by RACISM FOR CASH on 8/24/2008 11:45am
You guys, it's me, Johnny. I just wanted to drop in and say that the song WAS meant to be super racist. I just wanted to be hatin' on the white man for putting me in prison while they were in their suits with their damn fancy cars and swimmin pools, while I was stuck behind those bars. Sorry for all the confusion. But ye, I am super racist

by andrea on 9/7/2008 8:24pm
I think this is a great song. Not only is it about paying the consequences for the things you do, but it's also about being lonely. This song portrays what it's like to watch life pass you by, and never being a part of it. I think this is a great song, and while people are entitled to their opinions, but you don't have to express them in an ignorant and arrogant manner.
by Pedro on 9/8/2008 9:10am

It's a song. It doesn't matter one iota if, when, where, or what for JC was in prison. Although personal experiences lend more to song writing, it rarely is the case. Most songs are just songs from a compilation of reasons or inspirations. The racist stuff is way out there. What's writing about being stuck in a prison got to do with racism?? That's just idiotic and imo likely drug brained anyway.

you all should be ashamed of your self im a freshmen and i have better grammar then you. your disgusting for having such ridiculous and heinous names. Who the hell raised you. You ruin a perfectly good song by staining my memory of it with your filth. Please do us all a favor and please go and live a productive life that will benefit society as a whole, you pigs.

by JD on 10/9/2008 5:30pm
I once heard Johnny mention that the comment he most often hears is: My (father, brother, uncle, etc.) was in prison with you.

Johnny was never in prison, but he always gave a polite answer so he wouldn't spoil somebody else's story.
by girl who loves johnny cash on 10/12/2008 12:15pm
this is an awsome song and all of johnny cash and june carter's songs. Also,I think oldies are the best type of music..you can understand what they're saying, and there are always great stories told within the lyrics. Also the dancing that went along with oldies wasn't so provocative.

by Random on 10/27/2008 3:28pm
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Mr. Cash comparing Folsom Prison (a high security prison) to the air force/army/whatever he was in at the time? That's how I interpreted it.

by Big Fan on 11/1/2008 12:54pm
Johnie was in the air force when he first started writing this song. It was years later that it was perfected. Then he sang it at an auditioned to make a record. It was what the man was looking for and I think we know what happened next.
by Sal Paradise on 11/5/2008 12:33pm
I was perfectly happy to let that idiots comments slide as it was clearly written by someone who 'ain't seen the sunshine since, i don't know when.' infact, regardless of it, it's the responses to the comments that disappointed me, the song may be blatantly absent of racism but this board is jam packed with ridiculous ignorant racist statements.
anyway, this is a pretty good song, it reminds me of the concept from leadbelly's midnight special; both great examples of the blues.
by Martin on 11/6/2008 11:28am
Maybe that this song isn't racist but Johnny sure was racist--ever heard his song "ship those niggers back".thats how it goes:send those apes back to the trees, ship those niggers back ship those niggers back... Deceiving isn't it.

by Rascist is Nigger not Folsom on 11/9/2008 4:46pm
The song folsom prison blues as we know is not rascist. It was written by Johnny cash, and no where in this song does it say anything bout a black or white man. So all these dipshits fuck off, just because your black and listen to lil weezy and shit, dont diss the old good stuff. Dumb niggers- THATS RASCIST! pieces of shit...
by Cash fan on 11/10/2008 9:57pm
So is he saying "suey" in between versus? Like the call a farmer gives to pigs to eat? I am wondering if it is a reaction to something happening live in the prison. Does any one actually know?

I can't believe how many of you are talking about racism just because some pathetic moron says it's racist. Half of the internet is made up of this type of rubbish. Why give these inadequate people any attention? Really, they need to go back to their own parents and deal with their own issues. We can't help them.
It is quite depressing that we are talking more about some sad loser and his badly spelled comments, than about a great man like Johnny Cash.

P.S: Why are so many people unable to spell properly or write full sentences?
by Bemused on 11/18/2008 5:47am
For the student, one other thing you might like to consider, is that Cash was talking about how the rich people on the train carry on riding and how that tortures him. I think he is making a social comment there. I think he is trying to suggest that it is criminal for some people to have so much and others have nothing. I think also, that he might be wondering, how they came to have so much. Maybe he thinks they have committed crimes every bit as bad as his, but got away with it.

Just a thought...

Big difference, so know your facts before you attempt to state them. That song is vile, and ignorant, disgusting lyrics in any form of music.

so i just heard this song for the first time ever. and while i am fully aware that a person, such as johnny cash, could have been racist at the time, i find it impossible to fathom that this is a racist song. and yes. i think we are all aware of the stupidity of some of these comments, but i just did a social justice assignment on literacy in our society. i can understand misspelling of words, poor grammar, et cetera. but what bothers me most about this comment is that the majority of the people commenting feel the need to give a retort. i guess im hypocritical for leaving a comment myself. but i believe this point has already been talked to death. resurrected. and killed again.

its a good son, though i dont think its "the greatest" nice though =)

Perhaps you are all missing the insight that John was just saying he was a son, who was a baby that had a mum, and that made him a son who was once a baby, who grew up to be a man, who unfortunately no longer had a mum, because she died. We all die, however we all don't get to write a legendary song before we do. Be happy for the baby, who was a son with a mum. Woooo woooooo (goes the whistle)
by Erin on 12/8/2008 10:56am
Watch "Walk the Line"... even though it isn't 100% true of Johnny Cash's life, it still summarizes it pretty well. As far as the song being racist goes... I guess you have no idea what the meaning of this song is. That's sad that people, who I am guessing are adults, come to conclusions without basing their decisions on facts. I feel bad for you.
by yetanotherjohnnyfan on 12/8/2008 12:51pm
Johnny swiped this song from Gordon Jenkins who recoreded "Crescent City Blues" and rewrote it. Jenkins sued and won a settlement, I suspect that's why Johnny was forced to insert "suey!" into all subsequent live performances.
It's still a great song but I prefer "Ring Of Fire".

it is a great song

to those few posters that dont understand the song, its about longing for the unattainable, ie freedom , combined with an understanding of exactly why one cant have said freedom.

and to everyone else, nuck futs is obviously just e-venting. planting e-seeds trying to grow e-fruit, and if you think about it his nihilistic post has caused so much discussion between people who might not otherwise have conversed. who's to say it wasnt a good thing?

well other than the spelling, grammer, syntax, and a lack of comprehension of Newtonian physics.

Train whistles give me a hard on. What does that mean? Am I a racist now? Or do I have residual feelings about prison? Not all prisons are bad though. Anybody ever see "Caged Heat"? Now, there wasn't a train or anything, but man, those prison chicks were pretty hot. I'd imagine it would be pretty cool to be a hot prison chick with all those other prison chicks, if that was your thing. It amazes me how the majority of the people that have posted in these comments continue to disregard 95% of the posts in this section. Most of you have repeated the same thing over and over again, rather than commenting on this beautiful song. So, in reality the ones who only consider writing a comment to acknowledge the first few comments are worse than "Fuck Nuts Licker".
by Morrison on 2/14/2009 4:48pm
I think Johnny Cash is awesome, man (Even though he died in 2003, his spirit still lives on through his music) And if you've seen the "Johnny Cash Show" on DVD, you'll see that he helped break racist tensions by breaking down the barrier and reaching across and pulling people through. He had Ray Charles playing and singing "Ring Of Fire" on piano (which is one of the best songs I've ever heard on guitar OR piano) The guy's a genius, man. He came from being poor, suffering family tragedies, (like with one of his brothers when Johnny was a child.) to becoming one of the best country musicians out there. Without him, the Highwaymen would not have existed too.

by fuck nugget on 2/23/2009 9:42pm
this is the most hilarious shit i've heard. OK to clarify as I am appointing myself the authority on this matter.

1. Folsom Proson was written while Johnny was in the airforce.
2. His only visits to Folsom Prison were where he played shows there, he never spent a night in Folsom.
3. This song has absolutely no racism theme.
4. However, even though this song isn't racist, here's another that Johnny wrote that is...

"Ring that bell. Shout for joy. White man's day is here.
Gather all those equals up and herd them on the pier.America for white. Africa for black.
Send those apes back to the trees. Ship those niggers back.Ring that bell. Shout for joy. White man's day is here."

Ship those niggers back - Johnny Cash
by tinkerbell on 2/24/2009 3:17am
to all those people debating on how Johnny was inspired for this song i don't think he was putting himself in anybodies shoes or stuff like that, he was feeling trapped and restricted by the army just as if he was in Folsom prison or some place like that... well thats my opinion but hey no matter what its still a good song...well... good lyrics

There is lots of racist artist out there, with lots of racist songs, I cant name any of hand because it's garbage, but this guy should go on their sites and vent his mental disfunctions there. anywho.. the reason why im commenting is because johnny never was prisoned in folsom prison, he didnt write this song from his own experience......

he did some very minor time for possession.

on the other hand, enough with the racism, and the majority of these comments are actually funny

and by the way.
just to say this..
there is a big difference between Niggers and Black people.

although some black people are niggers, also some white, mexican, asian, jewish, etc. can also be a nigger.

so if you ask me if i hate niggers. the answer is yes.

My, My! Not only can a people not spell, but the language? You also need to capitilize Johnny Cash's name, he is a proper noun. You all should really read "Painless Grammar" by Rebbeca Elliot, it could help you people learn how to actually make a real sentence with a subject and predicate.
by 11 year old on 3/19/2009 5:58pm
Y'all need to stop cussing. I really doubt even half of you know what a racist is, since you don't even know how to spell it. Get off your lazy butts and look it up in the dictionary. For all we know, FNL is just some stupid kid like that perv at my school and decided that that comment would make this site popular. Can everyone just cut the crap and move on? Okay, starting next comment, no one is allowed to include any cuss words, or the word racist. I am in sixth grade and this has gone far enough. At the risk of contradicting myself by writing this comment I wish to express my complete and utter confusion as to why people leave comments on random pages like this. For example "Johnny cash rocks my world!!" left by Springg. And that horse fucker 'fuck nuts licker' leaving ridiculous statements. Get a life all of you, no one gives a fuck what you have to say.

Folsom Prison Blues was written in 1955 (check it out on web) Johnny Cash did ~~not~~ do time in Folsom Prison. I saw the movie I walk the line and I think Vivian got a raw deal. Although I love Johnny and June I still think that Vivian got a raw deal. I think Johnny and June had a very strong love. I heard somewhere that Rosann Cash said the movie protrayed her mother in a bad light---I don't think so. She reacted the way any woman would when her man was straying.

For those of you who are trying to figure out why Johnny is singing about being in Folsom Prison when he shot a guy in Reno, did u ever stop to think that Johnny traveled from Reno to California and that's where he got his punishment ending him up in folsom prison, cus as most ppl know some musician think differently tan most ppl
by Myself on 7/22/2009 5:25pm
Johnny Cash is one of the greatest musicians who ever lived.

Even that nigger song isn't that bad. he isn't saying that all blacks should die, just that they should go back to Africa.

But anyway, I love Cash!

by Concerned Musician on 8/2/2009 11:25pm
People, Music was intended to be a form of expression which is created with class and intelligence which today so many people seem to lack. Not only this but music, at least in Johnny Cash's day, was intended for the enjoyment of all ages, and today the radio stations and music sites alike are littered (in my opinion)with the vulgar garbage called music. I was told by a colleague of mine, about the vulgar language used here on this music blog and was quite frankly appalled that someone would disgrace this great musician's talent with such talk. I am in no position to judge this person who uses such a vulgar name but it appears quite obviously to me he has problems that go much deeper than racism. Sir I would request that u find a better outlet for your anger than this site. Thank you.

this shit is amusing. honestly who gives a fuck what fnl or whatever he wants to call himself thinks. in reality he is most likely an insecure boy who is fucked up. so get over it. johnny cash isn't ruined over these stupid comments. i've wasted enough time here.
by RCDeVill on 8/21/2009 8:31pm
It is hard for me to believe that in this day & age, idiots like fucks nuts are allowed to live and breathe. He comments on something , and though everyone is entitled to thier opinion, he clearly is only either A; crying out for attention, or B; his mom/sister and daddy/brother were inbred themselves and clearly were huffing toxic waste when he was concieved. this song is a classic, written by a man that never finished school and went on to entertain millions across the globe and over 5 decades. His charitable deeds and effort on behalf of our soldiers were well documented and his encouragement to young and inexperienced musicians was well noted. However, if one were to know me, they would be suprised to know that I am a punk rocker and an avid anarchist, so I do not give this comment lightly. Johnny Cash, aka "the Man in Black" was the true father of punk rock. It's an attitude, not a fad or style of music. we miss you Johnny!!!!

To the people trying to figure out when 'Folsom Prison Blues' was wrote by Johnny Cash. . .

He wrote it while he was in the Air Force and stayed at folsom for a little while.

If you'd ever watched " Walk The Line" . . . you'd find out.

by Not Yo Mamma on 10/2/2009 6:33am
I have to admit that I'm a bit impressed that this "fuck nuts licker" has managed to get some obviously polite and upstanding
individuals to write things like "fuck", "nuts" and "licker" on the internet, when they would probably otherwise never use such language. Whoever this person may be, he's very creative and has acheived prolific results with his social experiment. I would suggest that we give the boy a chance to finish puberty and direct his creativity towards a more constructive goal. Incidentally, as a songwriter, I believe that Mr. Cash was telling a story about the experience of those who went to Folsom Prison, and not writing autobiographically. It was what he did. It's called songwriting.
by Folsom on 10/9/2009 3:27pm

To EVERYONE:
Johnny cash was never at Folsom Prison.
He watched a video about it while he was in the air force.
by stupid focking people on 10/16/2009 12:22pm
Johnny Cash Played at folsom prison you stupid stupid people that were he got the idea for the song he was there and he wrote it shortly after wow shows how much you guys know
by we're not as stupid as you on 10/18/2009 6:10pm
um actually.... "Folsom" is right.... He wrote this song before his career even began, and played at Folsom Prison very well into, if not after, his career.
by Fun Bobby on 10/20/2009 1:21pm
Next thing you know, somebody's gonna think he wrote "I Walk the Line" after getting pulled over on susp of DUI! He did write Folsom while in the service, Live at Folsom Prison was recorded at said prison, so he must have been there! The movie may have ended with around Live at Folsom, but his career thrived for over 30 more years! Ah man, I forgot to swear!
by I live in Folsom on 10/22/2009 10:06am
johnny Cash never served time in Folsom prison, he PLAYED a concert at Folsom prison!!!
And I never heard before of Johnny Cash, 'cause I moved from Russia and live only over a year in Folsom. But I know that, morons!
damn, here a lot of comments posted just make you mad, people! Ignore it!
by Sol on 10/22/2009 10:00pm
YHBT YHL HAND. I love the internet, only here can a mass of people be infuriated by such an obvious troll. A "troll" ladies and gentlemen is when someone posts an obscene comment in order to provoke certain reactions. In this case the reaction that was provoked was anger, hate, and utter disdain for the original poster.
