by EAGLE-WOLF on 2/11/2010 5:02pm An addition to the Peter, Paul, & Mary comment above. They sang it the same way that John Denver did originally on his "John Denver Sings" album. This album from John was not commercially released, it was just meant to be given to family and friends as a Christmas gift. Peter, Paul, & Mary were among those given a copy. Then when John actually released his first album, "Rhymes And Reasons" he recorded this song again; doing it the same way as he did before. Then for his first "Greatest Hits" album, John went back into studio to re-record some of those songs. The new version of this song was much slower and so much more emotional and expressive.
