CIVIL WAR

"WHAT WE'VE GOT HERE IS FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE.
SOME MEN YOU JUST CAN'T REACH...
SO, YOU GET WHAT WE HAD HERE LAST WEEK,
WHICH IS THE WAY HE WANTS IT!
WELL, HE GETS IT!
N' I DON'T LIKE IT ANY MORE THAN YOU MEN." *
(whistle)

Look at your young men fighting
Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before

Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before

My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars

D'you wear a black armband
When they shot the man
Who said "Peace could last forever"
And in my first memories
They shot Kennedy
I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
That you can't trust freedom
When it's not in your hands
When everybody's fightin'
For their promised land
And

I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
Ow, oh no, no, no, no, no

Look at the shoes you're filling
Look at the blood we're spilling
Look at the world we're killing
The way we've always done before
Look in the doubt we've wallowed
Look at the leaders we've followed
Look at the lies we've swallowed
And I don't want to hear no more

My hands are tied
For all I've seen has changed my mind
But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights
'Cause all these dreams are swept aside
By bloody hands of the hypnotized
Who carry the cross of homicide
And history bears the scars of our civil wars

"WE PRACTICE SELECTIVE ANNIHILATION OF MAYORS AND
GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS FOR EXAMPLE TO CREATE A VACUUM
THEN WE FILL THAT VACUUM AS POPULAR WAR ADVANTAGE
PEACE IS CLOSER" **

I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
And I don't need your civil war
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no uh-oh-uh, no uh-oh, uh no
I don't need one more war

I don't need one more war
No, no, no, no uh-oh-uh, no uh-oh, uh no
WHAZ SO CIVIL 'BOUT WAR ANYWAY?
(whistle)

His first memory could not have been of JFK being shot. He was born in early 1962, so would have been 1 1/2 at best in 1963. I love Axl, but he is exaggerating his place in history here on "Civil War".

I was around 1 1/2 years old when Elvis died, and I remember the way people reacted to it. Women crying in the streets outside Graceland. I remember hearing about the drug cocktail that he O.D.d on. I didn't understand the importance of it til years later, and I think that is what he's saying hppened to him.

in indiana, after the song Axle dedicated this song to all the armed forces and he said that everyone wasnt happy with the concept of war when when we did go to war you were a fuckin assh0le not root for our side. me being a marine and have been overseas during war time, that is a patriot in my eyes.

also i have seen a few live videos and the lyrics
And history hides the lies of our civil wars
and
And history bears the scars of our civil wars
are swtiched around. maybe thats just Axle singing his songs the way he wants.

Yes this song is sad but it shows the destruction war causes on people and the planet. And it also has great guitar.

Now look. The fucking idiots who killed my Indian ancestors are the same idiots who come up with civil war ,Vietnam, Korean war , the fucking waste our time wars, all this stupid BULLSHIT just for simple ignorance on gaining power.BELIEVE me no mother fucker ought to ever put a piece of shit government official in my face talkin war shit, I will show that fuck what war is all about. My ancestors were fucking innocent and they will ALWAYS remain innocent because no white man can do the things they do that is why white man is a jealous breed!!!!!! By the way who was dumb enough to carve presidents faces in this fucking country, that Gutzon Borglum DEFACED our nation by doing that. The real FOREFATHERS were my ancestors not no damn president!!!!! Get it right for once !!!!!!!!

Civil War is one of my all time faves. It goes to the heath of war, and tells ya what it truly is
by Mark_M on 7/8/2012 4:13pm
The term "Civil War" doesn't refer to just actual battles. In this song, civil war has multi-layer'd meaning which includes the battle over racism as a civil war between two ideologies within a single country, a war that cost just as many lives as any conventional war ever has. Additionally, Axel Rose is not the sole author of these lyrics so his age at say, the shooting of Dr. King, is not relevant. Veritas agape.

The American Civil War was a piece of shit and so were the people who fought in it on both sides. Lincoln was a stupid piece of shit too.
