This song has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Wish they'd all cooperate and get the full band back together... and tour!! Too much ego trippin' for ELO right now, unfortunately. Keep loving it and perhaps they'll all reunite to feel that love in concert!

Francis was there best player hence the Mr Blue. He then joined Nottingham Forest hence the lyric Mr Night which refers to Brian Clough who was Forests head coach. And the hand on the shoulder is the photo of Clough with francis at the press conference on the day he moved clubs. Its a song about a soccer player and the good memories and times he gave the team nothing more. Not homosexuality, not jesus or religion not heaven not this and not fucking that. Just a footballer. And a very good one at that. Up the spurs.
