Drift Away Lyrics

Artist: Dobie Gray
Album: Drift Away

Drift Away
DOBIE GRAY
(Mentor Williams)

Day after day I'm more confused
So I look for the light in the pouring rain
You know that's a game that I hate to lose
I'm feelin' the strain, ain't it a shame

Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away
Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I wanna get lost in your rock and roll and drift away

Beginning to think that I'm wastin' time
I don't understand the things I do
The world outside looks so unkind
I'm countin' on you to carry me through

And when my mind is free
You know a melody can move me
And when I'm feelin' blue
The guitar's comin' through to soothe me
Thanks for the joy that you've given me
I want you to know I believe in your song
Rhythm and rhyme and harmony
You help me along makin' me strong

CanUspell has a point. What if Dobie had expressed himself as carelessly or ignorantly as some of his fans spell? Wouldn't be such a great (note the correct spelling!)song in that case, right?

"Please people use spell check for the hard words like grate...it's great
memerised = :(
memorized = :)"

I know it is hard for americans, but please try and understand the rest of the world....you can spell memorized with an 's' (i'll admit not with the 'e' though)

in the real english language: memorised.
in the destroyed english language: memorized....
by "Thinker" on 7/14/2011 2:57am
You people are ding-bats!! This isn't a site put up by Dobie. It's a fan site. The error's in spelling have NOTHING to do with the artist. I'm blown away at how many messages are directed toward Dobie, personally, as though he placed the lyrics here himself. Pssst....I would be seriously shocked if Dobie Gray even has a clue this site is "here", let alone monitor it. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a fan site, where you can send him mail, but this isn't the place, folks.
by RECTOR on 7/20/2011 9:35am
Dat's grate song indeed,so keep it up Mnr Gray.
by Sharington on 7/26/2011 10:57am
Drift Away describes how one's imagination can set you free, make you feel good inside and brighten your day when too many worries cloud your mind and can relate to the meaning of the lyrics, tone of voice and the rhythm of the instruments played.
Music inspires you on bright sunny
day and good times as well as on gray days in times of troubles and
confusion.
Music is the way to positivity, inspiration, encouragement, emotion and creativity.
Really Listen to the lyrics and meaning of each song.

by Michael33071 on 11/12/2011 8:27am
Nice song. But I prefer Uncle Kracker's rendition because it's much better. Dobie Gray sings the final verse.
by Ella on 11/19/2011 5:09pm
Oh NO WAY is the Uncle Kracker version better than the original! This blues song is supposed to be sung with soul...,,which Dobie has in spades. Uncle Kracker does a good cover but it's sterile, no feeling to it. All important I believe. If you're going to sing a blues/soul song then sing it with soul!
by Steve Mohr on 12/7/2011 9:27am
