Even though im young (13) some how this song really touches my heart. Even so young i have made some pretty big mistakes in my life. This song really helps when you feel guilty or sad over something the line "what if i stumble what if i fall, you never turn away in the heat of it all" is really comforting to know that God will always be there to help no matter how bad we sin.

for almost a month now, i've been obsessing whether i'm being a good witness for Christ or not. i'm so so afraid of stumbling, knowing this will reflect on other Christians. Also, Im afraid that if I sin, God will love me less. Thanks to this song, I'm reminded that He will always love us. Like Lynette said, He loved us first; even before we repented, he loved us.

this so true. my brother is the president of our christian progam at my school and one day this group of girls walked by our christian meeting and me and josh(my brother) asked if the would like to join and their exact words was "why go in there when all they do is act like hypocrates" sorry if i spelled that wrong well i love this song and it helps me in all i do.
As a former Christian recording artist, the meaning of this song is obvious. They're talking about the fact that Christian celebrities are constantly in the spotlight, held up on a pedestal and at the same time under a microscope. God himself holds someone to a high standard when they put themselves out there as this type of representative for Him. The lyrics here are saying that even though the singer is still human and prone to make mistakes, and even though they know God will forgive them, there can be some serious damage done to their fans if and when they do stumble and fall.
I first heard this song when I was in 3rd grade...
At the time I didn't even understand the words the guy at the beginning was even saying, and the tune sounded cool...
Flash forward to my sophomore year in college, I come across my dc talk jesus freak album, put it in my macbook (the last time I played this album, it was on a bogus boom box in the 90s)
Hearing this song play for the first time since I was in 3rd grade was crazy. In third grade, I didn't have problems with the temptations I have now in my life. I had no worries back then, and now I look back at my years and I've screwed up just like everyone else cuz I'm human. This song is so powerful and at about the same time I pulled this CD out, I've started getting back to church. It's tough, but not impossible to live right and for Him.

Yeah, we will stumble. Just shows how much we need Him. And I think it's normal to wonder how that may scar non-believers. But we know that His Word will never come back empty. That's a promise. So you will be blessed for your efforts. And if people want to point fingers at Christians as the reason for not glorifying the one true God through Jesus--well, it's not like that's on a list of valid excuses God will be referencing on the Judgement Day. The opening quote is catchy and thought-provoking, but how can we assert its truth? Denial of the Almighty God surely has to go deeper than finger pointing. Just my thoughts...

i love this song so much
I know the song and it is a good song with a great message, but the quote at the beginning is what makes it so relevant and inspiring. Wherever it came from, C.S. Lewis or whomever, it is as true and real as it gets. I myself am not a devout believer, but I do believe in The Golden Rule and Karma. Hypocrisy kills religious legitimacy in many undecided people's minds and it is sad that supposed believers are doing more harm than good to their "beliefs".

The greatest single cause of Atheism in the world today isn't Christians, it's Atheists. They don't come to Christ because what fellowship has darkness with light? They don't come to the light lest their evil deeds be exposed to the light. Check the Bible before you swallow Satan's condemnation and lies about your faith. God calls us to obedience, but each will bear his own guilt regardless of what any of us does.
Aww thanks Jeff for that reminder how self righteous Christians are. Right now I'm getting turfed out of a house that I heated for a winter because my wonderful "Christian" landlords suddenly decided to sell the house. After extracting promises from me that I wouldn't suddenly up and leave them hanging. Talk about bad-faith hypocrites, pretty scummy - but I had a bad feeling about the whole arrangement, having gotten scammed by The People Of Jesus plenty in the past before. Ruins a lot of my plans and hard work - but amen, hope those Christians have lots of money in the bank.

I know this is not the meaning of the song in
the sense, but is simply a time in my life and
how it touched me.
My aunt was 92 and would forget many things; like what she had for lunch. This played and touched me as her walk was not even a crawl and usefulness low scale. Left
me pondering my own road i must travel and the need for love all the way from this world to the next. 4 months later she would complete this leg of her journey.
Its been 2 years and i still weep when this plays. Yes, it is a great reminder to be real and what really matters: God and eternity.
