This is a fantastic song and testimony. The basic, repetition and stoic style of the refrain, "What will people think when they hear that I'm a Jesus Freak?" speaks about how believers often think the same phrase over and over, and worry about what people will think. Believers often don't share their faith or let others know their beliefs for fear of persecution, judgement, ridicule, etc. But the artists and song answer the question - who cares? Who are you, really? Are we really so self absorbed that we worry about what people will think? It's none of your business what someone else thinks of you. But, it can be scary because there is so much controversy and persecution around the name Jesus in this world. But we are called to boldness, like the Disciples and so many others before us.

This song is awesome!! Alot of my friends are changing since some stayed at private school, went to public school, or me homeschooled. Even though most of them go to a Christian school... I'm the only one that really got labeled Jesus freak. Along with the lame homeschool jokes they'll sorta talk for me about how Christian I am. If they do that, I always have the "I thought you were Christian too" they'll admit but I get labeled. Being a Jesus freak is the best thing I have EVER done or will do. Thanks for the song DC talk!
I'm a Pastors daughter so I get called a "Jesus Freak" all the time! I believe it to be a compliment. I have many un-Christian friends that I'm trying to reach for the Lord so this song keeps me going. btw i saw Toby Mac and DC Talk live last week and they rocked!!!! JESUS FREAK IS MY FAVE!!!!!
