The basic, repetition and stoic style of the refrain, "What will people think when they hear that I'm a Jesus Freak?" speaks about how believers often think the same phrase over and over, and worry about what people will think. Believers often don't share their faith or let others know their beliefs for fear of persecution, judgement, ridicule, etc. But the artists and song answer the question - who cares? Who are you, really? Are we really so self absorbed that we worry about what people will think? It's none of your business what someone else thinks of you. But, it can be scary because there is so much controversy and persecution around the name Jesus in this world. But we are called to boldness, like the Disciples and so many others before us. Yep, I'm a freak.
