i think this one is about a man, who was a guitar god, him and his band got famous, than uber-famous, as a result ziggy lost track of what made him. he alienated his band and fans, he introverted and the band broke up.

It's a great song. Perfect telling of his life as Ziggy Stardust. Of course, the whole ChangesBowie album details his life from the beginning to the point it was put together. He does rather brag about himself, though, doesn't he. Well hung, God given ass... Of course, The Labyrinth bears both statements out to be true. Not my favorite Bowie song, but one of the top.

Bowie inspired me to start writing songs back in '79 and he still inspires me to this day. He's the real deal: a larger than life rock star, not just a wannabe. I just hope he comes out of retirement. I can just see the cover of Rolling Stone: " Bowie is Back!"

This is retarded. This song is NOT about Hendrix, it wouldnt make any sense to refer to his snow white tan! The song is about Alice Cooper, who had a band called The Spiders and also at one point The Nazz! It all makes sense with Alice Cooper. Also a lot of the album was inspired by Marc Bolan, who Bowie had a strong relationship with and who helped Bowie out with his career and is probably a big reason why Bowie got so much success. The song Lady Stardust is about Marc Bolan, the king of glam rock. Bowie is nothing next to Marc, but I guess most of you havent even heard of him, which leads me back to where i started; This is retarded.

The song is about the alter ego character he made up, called Ziggu Stardust, and his band at one time were also called The Spiders From Mars, they played like this for a while. Some of the best Bowie songs ever are from Ziggy and Spiders era. My mom was a teenager at the time, a huge fan, and brought me up on Bowie. May he rock on eternally!!
I agree with Pam and Hailz, I was into Bowie in the early years when his first stuff came out. When Ziggy Stardust was born it was another brilliant idea that he had. Lucky to see him as Ziggy in full costume over 40 years ago!Been to more of his concerts in the past years but that one was by far the best !
