Junior's Eyes Lyrics

Artist: Black Sabbath
Album: Never Say Die

Junior's eyes looked up to the skies in tears
He prayed that his maker, the giver and taker, would `pear
Junior sighed, as his hands reached out to the sky
Junior cried, the day that his best friend died
Yeah!

They're coming home again tomorrow
I'm sorry it won't be for long
With all the pain I've watched you live within
I'll try my hardest not to cry
When it is time to say goodbye

Junior's eyes, they couldn't disguise the pain
His father was leaving, and Junior's grieving again
Innocent eyes watched the man who had gave everything
Junior's sorrow, who knew what tomorrow would bring?
Yeah!

They're coming home again tomorrow
I'm sorry it won't be for long
With all the pain I've watched you live within
I'll try my hardest not to cry
When it is time to say goodbye

Junior's eyes looked into the skies once more
Now he knew well, this life was hell for sure
He desperately tried, his fingertips stretched to the stars, yeah
Reaching for reason, along with the time and the stars
Yeah!

They're coming home again tomorrow
I'm sorry it won't be for long
With all the pain I've watched you live within
I'll try my hardest not to cry
When it is time to say goodbye

what does this song mean? it is a song about junior's father going off to war?
by JF on 12/4/2009 11:55pm
As was mentioned, Geezer wrote most of the Sabbath lyrics. Very few are Ozzy penned.
by JF on 12/5/2009 12:01am
Kurt, I believe the song is about "Junior's" father dying.
by NSS on 12/30/2009 10:21pm
It's about the death of Ozzy's father Jack.

1st verse: loss of friend (death)
2nd verse: loss of father (the album cover makes me think of military deployment)
3rd verse: loss of hope

One of my favourite Sabbath songs of all time. Painfully sparse and brutally eloquent.

Black Sabbath is potentially the best thing to ever happen to the world
by JohnnyB on 10/19/2010 12:54pm
Yes, this song is rewritten to be about the then-recent death of Ozzy's father.
by Maragato on 11/28/2010 7:34am
Black Sabbath's the most underrated bunch of musicians, poets and philosophers in history. Their songs are so profound and the closest thing to depicting the "symptom of the universe" in words.

So different when I first heard them over 40 yrs ago. Still listening to them today. Lyrics take on a different meaning throughout ones life. Keep writing, keep making music, I will be listening till the end.
